Vehicle and Engine Monitoring System (VEM) engineered by our partner Malone Specialty, Inc is an innovative, patented system with GPS Tracking capabilities that monitors and controls vehicle and engine activity.
This unique system allows companies to monitor and manage their fleets to insure the vehicles run properly and safely
Typical paybacks include:
- Large scale fuel savings
- Extended vehicle life
- Reduced down time
- Extensive maintenance and repair savings
VEM is a necessity for any business utilizing fleets/schools buses/white vans and other such vehicles to execute and manage productivity.

VEM Features
- Idle limiting - automatically shuts down engine after pre-determined idling time is exceeded
- Sends out an alert to the dispatcher and driver should a fault occur.
- If a fault occurs, VEM will shut down the vehicle automatically.
- VEM can shut down a vehicle engine REMOTELY from the Dispatcher’s computer.
- VEM monitors battery voltage and alarms if the voltage drops below a preset point. If the engine is not running, it triggers a latching relay to shut off all electrical items connected to the relay.
Benefits
- Reduces engine failures
- Saves fuel costs by idle limiting
- Saves jump starts by protecting the battery
- Provides valuable management information on the vehicle and driver performance
- Reduces overall wear and tear on the vehicle; increasing longevity and maintenance savings.
- Tracks inventory in vehicles - providing inventory control

Monitor vehicle activity as it occurs:
- Engine Shutoff*
- Engine Idle time*
- Idle Timer On*
- Oil Pressure*
- Low Battery*
- Engine Temp*
- Coolant Level*
- Door(s) Open/closed (front and back)
- Stop Sign (opened or closed)
- Front bar deployed
- Hazard lights operating when front door open & stop sign deployed
- Fuel level (available Q2)
- And any additional vehicle activities a customer would like to collect…
* System features included in the base product. The other features require additional equipment and cost.
How it works
- System connects to vehicle systems & collects activity as it occurs
- Sends data to handset with Comet Tracker Software installed
- Comet Tracker sends the data through the carrier network along with a GPS position and Time Stamp when it gets certain data events (Engine Shutoff, Low Oil Pressure, Coolant Level etc.)
- Customer receives data directly to the Comet Tracker Software and can optionally get Alerts via email. Data can be viewed individually or through Comet Tracker’s extensive reporting system
“The Vehicle and Engine Monitoring System will be installed in every truck I buy because it pays for itself in fuel savings in less than one year.” - Tom Johnson, Vice President Distribution Services,
